Two worlds in one pendant — this exceptional vintage Chinese cloisonné teardrop tells a different story on each side. The front presents a rearing unicorn in full mythic splendor, its mane flowing and single horn proud, framed by an open reticulated border of intertwining florals and botanical scrollwork in cobalt blue, sage green, and soft pink against a deep wine-crimson ground. A creature of legend, rendered in the ancient art of cloisonné with remarkable delicacy and spirit.
The enamel work is dense and fine, the gold wire cloisons precise and expressive — the hallmarks of quality Chinese export cloisonné at its 1970s–1980s height. The pendant measures approximately 1.75 inches tall and hangs from a braided red silk cord at 26 inches — a cord color chosen to complement the pendant’s crimson ground perfectly.
