A lot of vintage World War II era U.S. Navy photographs and postcards, featuring sailors in uniform individually and in groups, aboard ship, and on liberty. Several pieces carry wonderful handwritten captions in period voice, including a series signed by R.P. Conrad, AM3/c, dated January and March 1944, describing scenes with local women and a candid, self-deprecating note about his own photo: “I spent a dollar for this damn thing… really I don’t look anything like this mess.” Additional named servicemen appear throughout, including a postcard addressed to Mike Peznacuffkas and a photo inscribed “Meatball & Ray Mosher, Harold in China.” A wonderful lot for WWII militaria collectors, Navy history enthusiasts, or anyone drawn to genuine handwritten wartime voices.

Condition : photos and postcards show age-appropriate wear — foxing, toning, and edge wear throughout; a few pieces have surface scratches or light creasing. Sold as-is, as pictured.
