There’s a wonderful bit of frozen motion in this one — Fred Astaire mid-stride in top hat and tails, cane in hand and the other arm flung out with that unmistakable Astaire flourish, captured as Josh Barkley from 1949’s “The Barkleys of Broadway.” Part of Avon’s “Images of Hollywood” porcelain collection, released in 1984, this figurine celebrates one of the great Hollywood dance partnerships and one of the era’s most iconic screen wardrobes — the white tie and tails he made his signature.
The piece comes complete with its original box and the collector’s information booklet, which identifies the character, film, and copyright details on the reverse — a nice bit of authentication that keeps this one desirable to Avon and classic Hollywood collectors alike.
