Unusual handwoven shallow basket or decorative tray measuring approximately 11 inches across and 2.5 inches deep.
The piece features tightly coiled brown fibers woven with contrasting golden-yellow stitching and an elaborate sculptural outer border. Circular carved Handwoven coiled fiber basket with walnut/nut-shell slice accents, likely artisan/folk craft, origin unknown. Elements are incorporated throughout the perimeter and center, giving the basket a wonderful folk-art or artisan-made appearance.
The underside of the center wood element is hand-marked “96.” The meaning of this marking is unknown, so no specific date or maker is being attributed.
A distinctive piece for wall display, tabletop décor, natural or organic interiors, basket collections, bohemian décor or folk-art collections.
