Wonderful vintage Chinese cloth folk doll depicting a mother carrying a young child on her back. Approximately 11” tall.
The mother wears an elaborate green brocade traditional-style outfit decorated with floral and figural motifs, contrasting trim and decorative cord closures. She has a hand-drawn/painted cloth face, black yarn hair arranged in braids, and handmade textile shoes.
The child is carried on her back in a beautifully constructed textile carrier secured with decorative cord. The child’s distinctive hairstyle includes a dark fabric hair covering with a small tied tuft at the back.
A particularly charming vintage cultural doll with extensive handmade textile detail.
Condition: Vintage condition with age and display wear. Some loss/thinning to the mother’s yarn hair, light textile wear and loose/fraying threads. Faint writing appears on the underside of one shoe but is no longer legible. Please see photos for condition and construction details.
