Beautiful vintage Hungarian folk doll dressed in an elaborate traditional Palóc-style costume. She retains her original paper tag marked “PALÓC HISZ SZÉCSÉNY,” with a stated measurement of 23 cm and item number 2874.
She is exceptionally detailed for a small souvenir/folk doll. Her costume features layered lace, floral woven ribbon, puffed sleeves, red boots and an especially wonderful traditional headdress embellished with tiny glass beads, sequins, metallic threads and a large red ribbon at the back. Her cloth face has delicately painted features.
The original tag is a major plus here because it ties the doll directly to Szécsény, Hungary, an area associated with Palóc folk culture.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear. There are visible dirt/soiling marks to the pink cloth hands and some age-related wear/fraying to the lace and textile elements. Original paper tag has light wear and writing/stamping. Please see photos.
