A deeply evocative piece of early 20th-century family history, this large 13x10-inch framed portrait captures an Edwardian woman identified by vintage pencil notation on the reverse as "Aunt Lou (Aunt Jim's mother)".
The Photography & Provenance: The bottom-left corner of the matte bears the faint blind stamp of Trinity Court Studio—the premier high-end photography studio operated by pioneer photographer R.W. Johnston at 313 Sixth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, famous for documenting elite Pittsburgh families, society debuts, and civic life. It is hand-signed along the lower right by the photographer with the year 26 (1926).
The Framing: The ornate, multi-toned silver and dark enamel-accented frame was custom-fitted and labeled by the legendary Pittsburgh luxury department store Joseph Horne Co.
