Vintage metal Derbac Comb, a very fine-tooth lice and nit removal comb used with Derbac treatment products.
One side is engraved “Derbac Comb” and the reverse reads “Read Directions Before Using.” Two circular openings appear at the lower corners.
This is an unusual early personal-care and medical-history collectible rather than an ordinary grooming comb.
Vintage used condition with scratches, spotting, oxidation/discoloration and general surface wear consistent with age and use. Sold as a historical collectible; not cleaned or polished.
And we have unusually strong documentation for this one: the Smithsonian owns essentially this same Derbac metal comb and states that Derbac shampoo and combs were on the market by the early 1920s. The Science Museum Group specifically dates its Derbac metal lice comb to 1930–1940 and identifies it as a tool for removing lice and eggs.
