An original pastel painting titled “The Lonely Curlew” by Port Aransas, Texas artist Wanda Moore, depicting a solitary long-billed shorebird against layers of turquoise, blue and lavender water. The loose pastel work and coastal subject give it an appealing folk/regional art character.
The artwork is signed “JoJo” at the lower left and is identified on the reverse as “The Lonely Curlew” by Wanda Moore, dated 1/22/14. The reverse also retains an artist biography stating that Moore participated in classes at Art Center for the Island and particularly enjoyed painting birds, water, boats, sunrises, horses and other animals.
Overall framed size is approximately 20” x 16”. Presented under glass with matting in a substantial metal-tone frame.
Preowned condition. There are visible age/use marks to the mat, including spotting/marks, particularly near the upper right and lower areas. Frame also shows normal wear. Artwork itself presents nicely. Please review all photographs.
